Welcome to the Johnston Fire / EMS Website 

 The JOHNSTON TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPT. is located in JOHNSTON TOWNSHIP, TRUMBULL COUNTY OHIO. The FIRE department is ALL volunteer, PARAMEDIC SERVICE IN THE TOWNSHIP IS FULL-TIME WITH ATLEAST 1 PARAMEDIC 24 HRS A DAY / 7 DAYS A WEEK.  JOHNSTON TOWNSHIP is a small rural town about 5 square miles with a population of about 2,040 residents. Our STATION NUMBER IS 29, dispatch frequency is 154.250 MHz, and working frequency is 151.500 MHz. Membership consists of approximately 35 active members.

Besides the TOWNSHIP the Fire Department proudly provides MUTUAL AID fire protection service to GUSTAUVS TOWNSHIP, VERNON TOWNSHIP, and KINSMAN TOWNSHIP. THE TOWNSHIP PARAMEDIC SERIVCE RESPONDS TO GUSTAUVS TOWNSHIP, GREENE TOWNSHIP, KINSMAN TOWNSHIP, ORANGVILLE VILLAGE AND VERNON TOWNSHIP including the TOWNSHIP total coverage area is approximately 125 square Miles IS COVERED BY THE PARAMEDIC SERVICE, which is the largest coverage area in TRUMBULL County by a single DEPARTMENT. The area consists mostly of rural farmland, as well as residential and light industrial territory. The fire department provides fire protection to 2 schools, funding comes entirely from fund raising events AND FROM A FIRE PROTECTION LEVY.


The JOHNSTON TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT has a long, rich history and tradition dating back to 1954 when the department was chartered, and takes the up most pride in the department’s members, their training and qualifications, as well as the apparatus we house. The department currently has 1-Engine, 1-Tanker, 1-Heavy Rescue, 1-Brush Truck, 2-Squads, and 1-MEDIC RESPONSE Vehicle. These units are all in service and are equipped for front line Fire/Rescue/Water Supply Service.
